Flintbox Technologies is a snapshot of some of the most recent out-licensing and in-licensing opportunities available on our site.
Out-Licensing Opportunities
Optical Pressure Sensor For Biomedical Applications
University of Victoria – August 7, 2008
Researchers at the University of Victoria have developed an optical in-fibre Bragg grating (FBG) pressure sensor with pressure range and resolution approaching that of today’s most sensitive biomedical pressure sensors as well as a major diameter of only 200 µm.

Efficient Holographic Data Storage Encoder
University of Alberta – August 5, 2008
Researchers at the University of Alberta have found a way to improve the data arrays using a novel encoding process before they are recorded to the holographic storage media.

The Pediatric Ulcerative Colitis Activity Index
The Hospital For Sick Children – July 31, 2008
The Pediatric Ulcerative Colitis Activity Index (PUCAI) is a validated instrument that measures activity of ulcerative colitis in children and adolescents without the requirement of colonoscopic assessment.

Novel Anti-Malarial Compound Derived from a Marine Sponge
National University of Singapore – July 29, 2008
Current drugs used to treat malaria are facing increasing resistance in the malaria-causing parasites. This invention relates to Manzamine A isolated from marine sponge as a therapeutic compound against malaria.

In-Licensing Opportunities
Dilutable Anti Microbial Household Cleaning Product
The High Commission of Canada to the United Kingdom
A global household products group with offices in the UK is seeking a naturally derived aqueous antimicrobial system, booster or active ingredient(s) for household applications. This should be effective (>99.9% bacteria kill) in both concentrated form and when significantly diluted in water for larger area use.

Radiochromic Hydrogels
Modus Medical Devices Inc.
We require assistance with formulation and manufacturing of clear hydrogels for a product to be used in radiation therapy. The product will consist of a 1 – 2 litre dosimeter made of an optically clear hydrogel doped with a radiochromic dye (changes colour when irradiated). The dosimeter will be imaged with our optical CT scanner to measure absorbed dose in 3 dimensions.
