Guy Kawasaki’s How to Change the World blog is always at the top of my Google Reader. He’s a great writer with excellent, thoughtful insights into VC funding, start-ups and business in general. Best of all, he is a wealth of knowledge, regularly posting links and articles that are thought provoking and highly useful. This guarantee of quality content keeps me, and Kawasaki’s legion of fans, continually coming back for more.
I read two great posts this week on Kawasaki’s blog, and wanted to share them with the Flintbox community:
A Patently Risky Business
Wondering if the money you spend on lawyers for patent applications is worth the cost? Thinking about opting for the “poor person’s patent”? This post provides some good resources as to why spending money on your patent applications is worth the price.
Young VC Adds Value
This post links to an interesting new resource created by a young VC. It’s a database of VCs searchable by keyword. This is a new venture, and currently only available in the US, but will likely be an invaluable tool for new start ups.
Here’s what the “young VC” in question Matt Win has to say about his site:
Sometimes venture capital can be a little intimidating. It’s hard to know where to start and whom to approach. And it can be hard to cut through the noise in order to reach investors. I hope this application helps.
By aggregating biographical, and other basic information on many of the venture investors located in the US, a simple search can take you one step closer to funding. If you’re an investor, prospective VC, or startup enthusiast, you’ll find value too.
Check out the Venture Capital Database for more info.

Thanks for the mention, Lindsay!
Best,
